We also work with the following groups:
West Toronto KEYS to INclusion
Dundas West Animal Hospital makes frequent visits to KEYS, a High Park charitable organization that helps adults with intellectual disabilities. During our visits, we bring along one of our friendly staff dogs and educate the group on how to care for our pets. Our last visits included listening to the heart, learning about oral care, and how to clean ears. We look forward to many more visits to come!
Visit westtorontokeys.com for more information about this organization.
Therapeutic Paws of Canada (TPOC)
TPOC is a registered charity offering free therapy pet visitations with the goal of enhancing the quality of life and health of those visited through the animal/human bond. Therapy pets can impact the daily lives of many by helping to reduce stress, improve communication of those who struggle, lower blood pressure, and improve an individual’s emotional state.
Dundas West Animal Hospital is very proud to be working towards becoming the first veterinary hospital to start a local TEAM of Therapeutic Paws of Canada. We are developing our very own team leads, evaluators and visiting volunteers with our own pets. We are very excited about this new venture and hope to see you in the community soon with our red TPOC shirts, dog vests, and cat scarves, so keep your eye out for us!
Rufus with Dr. Effendi and Nelson with Dr. Kilburn are Dundas West’s first two pets to pass the therapy dog evaluation! We hope to have many more of our team members and their dogs or cats certified in the years to come and eventually expand to invite clients and their pets to join the team.
If you are interested in volunteering, please visit tpoc.ca and look up the closest Team Leader under Contacts.
